A new AI-powered stroke assessment software has launched at Gold Coast University Hospital.
The software, named StrokeViewer, takes patient scans and applies AI analysis to assist clinicians to identify stroke-related anomalies, enabling faster diagnosis and increased likelihood of successful patient recovery.
Interventional Neurologist Dr Hal Rice and Medical Director Neurology Dr Saman Heshmat discussed the benefits with Executive Director for Strategy, Transformation and Major Capital Sandip Kumar and the implications for patient care.
Dr Rice said, "StrokeViewer aids our stroke teams in making collaborative decisions about the most suitable treatment for each patient, expediting these decisions as efficiently as possible.
“In the realm of stroke care, time is of the essence, and StrokeViewer significantly enhances our ability to deliver timely interventions."
The Gold Coast Health Clinical Imaging Management Program implemented the application in collaboration with medical technology company Nicolab the creator of StrokeViewer.
